HP DeskJet 816 Ink Replacement Guide

  1. Turn on the printer and make sure paper is loaded in the input tray.
  2. Open the top cover or cartridge access door. Wait until the internal carriage stops moving and rests in the center.
  3. Remove the old cartridge by pressing down gently or pushing in on the tab/front of the cartridge to release it, then pull it straight out of its slot.
  4. Unpack the new CompAndSave HP 816 ink cartridge and completely remove any orange pull-tabs, plastic wrap, or protective orange caps.
  5. Avoid touching the copper-colored electrical contacts and the ink nozzles to prevent clogs or connection failures.
  6. Insert the new cartridge firmly into its matching color-coded slot until it clicks or snaps securely into place.
  7. Close the cartridge access door and top cover.

    HP is known for charging outlandish prices for their replacement printer cartridges. This last color cartridge for a DeskJet 960c lasted fully four months. Comboink's was very reasonable. I recommend Comboink to everybody.
